ST WRITER FILE CONVERTER
ST Writer saves its files in its own format, with extra
information stored at the start and end of the file. While this is
useful for ST Writer, if you try and import the file in to another
program this extra information can cause problems.
There is a special file format called ASCII (American
Standard Code for Information Interchange) that stores only text,
and not special characters like style and formatting codes.
The program TO_ASCII in the UTILS.STW folder converts ST
Writer files to plain ASCII, so they can be used in other
programs. Running the program is simple. Double click on its icon,
then use the file selector to find the ST Writer file to be
converted. When the file is selected, the file selector will
reappear to allow you to give the new file a different name.
You can store the ASCII file with the same name as the
original, the the first file will be erased. It is best to use the
same file name but change the extender from TXT to ASC to indicate
that it is now an ASCII file.
